Description
Obedient plant is a perennial forb found distributed across the central to eastern half of the United States and Canada. It inhabits moist to mesic soil prairies, thickets, woodland edges and clearings where it enjoys full to partial sunlight. Growing from 2-4 feet in height, it produces showy purple flowers from July-September and is utilized by many insects and hummingbirds as a nectar source. The “obedient” flowers will remain in position if moved.
