Description

Annual Ryegrass

Annual Ryegrass is an introduced, cool season bunchgrass and is commonly used alone for establishing quick cover for many applications. This versatile, very fast establishing grass is highly adaptable in much of North America.

  • Commonly used as a quick cover monoculture in lawns or highly erodible areas
  • Used for soil stabilization, cover cropping and nurse crop
  • Very good component in forage and annual pasture mixes
  • Not drought and heat tolerant
  • In warmer climates can persist as a short-lived perennial
  • Avoid turfgrass mixes with high percentages of annual rye
