Morton Oats were developed in a cooperative effort between the USDA and North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station. Mortons have high test weight, large kernels, and white hulls. They are tall with good straw strength. These oats are moderately resistant to stem rust and moderately susceptible to barley yellow dwarf virus (BYD).
