Excel is a small seeded sweet sorghum-sudangrass hybrid that has a proven track record in meeting demands of the High Plains cattle producer. Good plant emergence and drought tolerant, coupled with hybrid vigor and excellent re-growth and tillering characteristics, well suited for multiple cuttings of high-quality hay and heavy pasturing.
RAZING: Begin grazing at 24”. Divide grazing area and rotate when plants are grazed down to 8”.
HAYING: It may be cut anytime after it reaches 24 inches in height. Cut for maximum quality between 24”-36”. Never let Excel reach full maturity, as this drastically reduces protein and TDN (Total Digestible Nutrients)
YIELD POTENTIAL: 6-10 TONS PER ACRE
PLANT HEIGHT: 6-8 ft.
MATURITY: 70 DAYS to Mid Bloom – 95 Day Maturity
SEED SIZE: 19-23,000 seeds/lb.
PLANTING RATE: 15-20 lbs. A Drilled/Broadcast
