Star Seed

This hard red winter wheat variety was developed by Colorado State University and licensed exclusively to AGSECO. It is the first CLEARFIELD variety with Jagger in its pedigree. Like Jagger, Protection does not have a good level of resistance to leaf rust, but will often escape damage due to its early maturity. Protection is moderately resistant to soil borne mosaic and intermediately tolerant to acidic soils, making it the only CLEARFIELD variety (to date) that has some adaptation to central Kansas and Oklahoma. Protection offers good drought tolerance and excellent grazing potential.
