Jagger is a hard red winter wheat released by K-State in 1994. Jagger is early in maturity, offers good grazing portential, and, due to its resistance to tan spot and Septoria leaf blotch, works very well in minimum or no-till and continuous wheat cropping systems. It is susceptible to leaf rust and powdery mildew, susceptible to early spring freeze injury, below-average test weight, shattering, lodging and Hessian Fly. Farmers still like its quick emergence in the fall and how easily makes a stand. Jagger is a fast filler, and can sometimes get its grain filled before leaf rust kills off the leaves.
