Hitch is a hard red winter variety developed by WestBred and licensed to AGSECO in 2008. Hitch features medium-short plant height, excellent straw strength, and terrific yield potential. This variety offers very good levels of resistance to leaf rust, stripe rust, and stem rust. Hitch is medium-late in maturity and holds winter dormancy very well, making it an excellent variety selection for northeast Colorado, all of Nebraska, and the northern 1/2 of Kansas. While its performance in southern Kansas has been fantastic, we expect that its maturity will limit the adoption of Hitch in this region.
